Don’t let your addiction control your life any longer. You deserve a fresh start. We can give you the best opportunity for long-term sobriety.

In one city of Arizona alone, it was reported that about 20% of individuals have gone through some sort of addiction or are currently struggling with a substance abuse addiction. Such an addiction physically degrades the body, mentally and physically. It also destroys bonds between family and friends and creates a distance that’s hard to recover. Seeking treatment through an intervention program like the Arizona 12 step treatment program is a necessary step to break free of your struggles.

Another Chance at Life

We at Desert Cove Recovery believe that people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol deserve another chance to live a better life. They need to get back to sober living and reintegrate themselves into the society that they isolated themselves from before. This can be done through our 12-step program.

Interventions like the 12-step program have been found to be truly effective as it requires the person to meet with a group regularly to share struggles and discuss the similarities of problems they’re facing. Together, they work towards a solution to their addiction. Since they regularly meet and share their progress, the process gives them a sense of accountability.

This program makes the person’s commitment to the recovery plan. They grow stronger and are less likely to stray from this path of healing. Positive results and headway are recognized and given reinforcement. Those who continue to struggle are given moral support by the group and encouraged to keep going.

Desert Cove Recovery’s Version of the 12-Step Program

Desert Cove Recovery’s 12 step program is unique. Each person is assigned a partner or a sponsor. This provides the guidance that is needed to direct the person towards the right path and to work out the personal nuances that they may have. The intervention workshops will simply set the foundation for the person’s own action plans.

Working with a sponsor/mentor has also been found to reinforce the effects of the Arizona 12 step program and result in permanent recovery. What’s more, the healed addict will have the chance to pass on their learnings and experiences with others when they become a sponsor/mentor as well.

Desert Cove Recovery developed the following 12-step programs:

Step 1
Admit that we were powerless over our addiction. Because of it, we were not able to manage our lives properly.

It is never a cowardly move to admit our mistakes. As a matter of fact, admitting our own faults is a sign of strength and courage. If victims were tough enough to try and undergo substance abuse, then they should be courageous enough to admit they were powerless at that time. We should declare that our addiction to alcohol and drugs is the reason why we need outpatient or inpatient rehabilitation. What we did in the past was wrong, but it is never too late to change.

Step 2
Believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity and normal life.

Part of admitting that we did wrong is acknowledging that we also cannot overcome it on our own. Nothing and nobody is perfect. While we may be tempted to let our pride get in the way and pretend that we can manage, it will only result in self-destruction. We are not alone and there are people who can help us through all these adversaries.

Step 3
Make the decision to turn our will and our lives over to God and understand his word.

Surrender might be difficult at first, but when you recognize God as the Supreme Being who is in control of everything that is good, you will feel a load lift off from your shoulders. We give our lives to God. Let Him decide and He will guide us to the right path. Even the temptation of drugs and alcohol cannot stop our journey to sobriety and enlightenment.

Step 4
Do some soul searching and make a fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Taking some time to introspect and think about the good and bad deeds that we have done will allow you to assess ourselves more accurately. It would help to list down these deeds in separate columns and reflect on these. See if these have benefited us and the people around us.

Step 5
Admit to ourselves, to another, and to God the exact nature of our wrongdoings.

Our team at Desert Cove Recovery does not put blame on anyone for the wrongdoings that they have done. Instead, we listen to them and understand the situation they are currently in. It is through listening that we truly understand them and ourselves as well. We motivate them and give them the strength that they need to admit their mistakes. We ease their burdens and make the process of rehabilitation much easier and faster.

Step 6
Prepare to have God remove all our defects of character.

It is God who is in control. He can wipe away any defects and make it possible for us to start anew. We are not perfect beings, but in God’s eyes we are perfectly capable of doing good.

Step 7
Humbly ask God to remove our shortcomings.

God forgives us from all our trespasses and starts the healing process for victims of substance abuse. Only he can erase all sins and help us move on away from the mistakes of the past.

Step 8
Make a list of all persons we have harmed and be ready to make amends to them all.

Forgiveness is the ultimate act of love. During our time of addiction, we have surely done others wrong. We need to list down who these people are and how we have hurt or harmed them. We should pray for their pardon and promise to ourselves, to others, and to God, not to do the same sin as we start living a better, healthier, and fruitful life.

Step 9
Make amends directly to those we have hurt, if possible, except when doing so would cause injure to them or to others.

It might not be possible to say sorry to all those we have hurt during the times when we were uncontrollable due to substance abuse. Going through our list carefully will allow us to pick out the people we can make amends to. Understand that there are names on our list who might not welcome our attempts to ask for forgiveness. Accept that there are times when making amends would not work and we should simply let time heal the wounds.

Step 10
Continue taking our personal inventory regularly. When we are wrong, we should not be afraid to admit it.

Our rehabilitation does not end with the Arizona 12 step program. The same steps that we took during the 4-week period of meetings and workshops should be repeated as habits. We have to forgive ourselves for the things we do wrong and then try harder to do better the next time.

Step 11
Seek to improve our conscious contact with God through prayer and meditation.

Prayer is our conversation with God. We ask for His guidance through prayer so that we may follow the right path and accomplish our goals. Understand Him, pray for discernment of His will, and ask for the power to carry out His will. We need to trust His will and everything will be better not just for ourselves, but also for everyone.

Step 12
Experience spiritual awakening and continue to practice the principles of the Arizona 12 step program in all our affairs.

At this point, we should already see the results of detoxification and rehabilitation. More importantly, we should go through an awakening of sorts where our new life unfolds in front of us, waiting for us to fully immerse ourselves in it.

The New You

At the end of the Arizona 12 step program at Desert Cove Recovery, you will realize that turning back to our old addictions is never an option. The bright and happy future ahead is a much better path than the dark and lonely past behind you. You will also be proud of the success that you have experienced in finally overcoming your addiction. You will want to share your success with others who are still in the process of healing. You can be a steward of change as you hold the hands of other people towards their new life.
